The Museum of Wood Sculpture in Sanyi is the only public museum specialized in wood sculpture in Taiwan. It is situated at the north area of Shendiao Village. The opening ceremony was held by former president Lee Teng-hui on 9 April 1995. It has become the center for education and exhibition of the arts of wood sculpture in Taiwan. 

Current town magistrate Tang Shen-yuan donated the area where the museum is situated in 1990 when he did not yet pursue politics. He was hoping to provide an exhibition center for local artists, so as to promote the arts of wood sculpture. His hope is realized, and Sanyi is now a world-renown center for wood sculpture. 

This museum of wood sculpture is the only one its kind in the whole province, and is under the jurisdiction of Miaoli County Cultural Center. Exhibition carries five main themes, including general introduction to wood sculpture, exquisiteness of wood sculpture, statue making in China, transformation and future for the arts of wood sculpture in Taiwan, and the beauty of wood sculpture which is actually an experience center. There are also area for special and themed exhibition and an art gallery, aiming to preserve and promote culture characteristics in the region.
